Ash Wednesday is on February 22 this year! Another lasting tradition at Visitation is the annual ingathering of friends, neighbors, and family into small groups during the six weeks of Lent. These Small Christian Communities (SCC) are a way of "being church" to each other, not just on Sunday but every day. This is not a new concept: Jesus often gathered a small group of disciples around him when he taught (Mt. 5:1). And after the Resurrection event early Christians met in small groups in each other's homes to listen to God's Word, to remember Jesus, to share faith and to break bread.
